INTERNSHIPS The Press and Communications Office of the Greek Embassy in Stockholm offers internships throughout the year, full -time or part -time. The applicants must be students in a Swedish University and preferably, Greek and/ or Swedish citizens. Interns will be able to participate in the daily program and assist in the running of the Press Office. An internship is a voluntary position and thus, no salary or any other kind of remuneration can be offered. In case of interest, please send a CV, a photo and a cover letter via e-mail, mentioning the period you are interested to undertake the internship.

Film screenings about Cavafy at International Library
On the occasion of the"Cavafy Year" to mark the 150th anniversary of the world- renowned poet's birth and in the framework of the exhibition "Ithaca didnt deceive you" (April 10- May 3) at the Stockholm Public Library, two more events will take place at the International Library:Film screening "The Night Fernando Pessoa met Constantine Cavafy", on Tuesday 16 april, 18.00 hrs and "Reading Cavafy, Fourteens Poems" on Wednesday 24 April, 18 hrs. Sustainability tourism in Greece conference- Stockholm 22.11.2012
The first conference in Sweden with the topic -sustainable tourism in Greece- took place on Thursday 22nd of November at 7A venue. The Chairman of the Greek National Tourism Board, Mr K. Zikos, opened the conference. Among the honourable speakers were also the Secretary-General of HSPN, Mr L. Collas and the International Director of FEE, Ms S. Bachet. Also, insightful views and forecast were given from representatives of the Swedish charter industry.
Greek tourism is undergoing creative reconstruction. The Green Tourism program, already being implemented, is part of the Ministry of Tourism initiatives to protect the environment, while the goal is to improve the functional infrastructure and operating procedures of tourist units driven by a greener attitude. In 2012, Greece awarded second in the world with 394 Blue Flags for Beaches and 9 for Marinas, while the number of Green Key hotels has doubled in the past three years, around 125 currently. Welcome to Greece for a green tourism experience!

Greece's progress 'impressive', Swedish FM says
Sweden's Foreign Minister Carl Bildt on Wednesday praised Greece's progress in tackling the crisis, during joint statements with Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos in Athens. - "I am impressed by Greece's progress in handling the crisis, from its fiscal performance to its efforts for economic recovery," Bildt said, noting that his own country had some experience of how painful structural changes can be from its own crisis in the '90s. Questioned about a past prediction by a Swedish finance minister that Greece will have left the eurozone in six months, Bildt said that he had disagreed with his colleague at the time, while the outcome only illustrated that "ministers can also make mistakes."

2013 dedicated to Constantine Cavafy
2013 has been designated as "Cavafy Year" by the Culture Ministry, to mark the 150th anniversary of the world-renowned poet's birth. Cavafy (1863-1933), one of the most influential literary figures of the Hellenic world in the early 20th century, contributed to the establishment of modern Greek poetry on the international scene.

SIA- Kris, an Art Essay on the Notion of Crisis
The Swedish Institute of Athens is hosting an exhibition entitled KRIS, an art essay on the notion of crisis, which runs until February 22. The exhibition-named after the Swedish word for crisis - aims to contribute to the public debate concerning the causes of the crisis and the role of politics in alleviating the situation. Several Swedish artists, including Cecilia J¤rdemar and Jesper Nordahl, will be in Greece to present their views on the issue of the so-called north-south divide, widely popularised by the media. The exhibition also includes two separate discussions, one with the Swedish artists, the other with artists-academics Aris Fioretos and Alexandra Deligiorgi as guests.

Inauguration of NEO Research Station - (27.10.2012)
The official inauguration of the Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO) Research Station is taking place on October 27th at Costa Navarino, honored by the presence of the President and Vice President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. NEO is formed through the cooperation between Stockholm University, the Academy of Athens and TEMES, and is dedicated to research and education on the climate and environment in the Mediterranean region.
